The formula was created based on a synergy of substances that promote fat metabolism by improving blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound found primarily in grapes, blueberries, raspberries, and mulberries, with multiple health benefits thanks to its anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and antioxidant properties. Resveratrol has been shown to protect against vascular aging by modulating the renin-angiotensin system and improving endothelial dysfunction by activating SIRT1, an important protein involved in metabolic functions, cell protection, and aging control. A meta-analysis study indicated that resveratrol supplementation could significantly influence serum levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Resveratrol supplementation has also shown several benefits in subjects with type 2 diabetes: it reduces triglyceride levels, exhibiting a more pronounced effect on LDL cholesterol reduction, mitigates insulin resistance, lowers fasting blood glucose, and improves oxidative stress. Berberine has demonstrated effects on glucose metabolism, insulin resistance, hypercholesterolemia, and even endothelial function, making it particularly useful in metabolic syndrome. In particular, berberine’s effect on blood glucose levels appears to be such that it results in a reduction in glycated hemoglobin that is comparable to that of metformin. It has demonstrated a lipid-lowering effect by increasing the expression of membrane receptors capable of internalizing LDL and reducing its levels in the blood. It has also demonstrated a cholesterol-lowering effect by inhibiting cholesterol absorption and simultaneously increasing its excretion. This mechanism (different from that of statin drugs) makes berberine a useful and effective active ingredient even for those with cholesterol resistant to statin therapy (alone or in combination). DHA ALGA Biotis® is an extract from the microalgae Schizochytrium, a rich source of unsaturated fatty acids with low iodine content. It is high in DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, essential for the proper functioning of our body. Its plant-based origin makes it suitable for vegans. EPA helps our body maintain normal blood pressure, healthy blood lipid levels, and supports cardiac function. DHA contributes to brain function and the maintenance of normal vision.
Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant produced in all cells of our body and is therefore called “ubiquinone” (from the Latin ubi, “everywhere”). Numerous scientific studies have revealed the usefulness of this molecule for treating cholesterol and promoting good cardiovascular health.
The administration of coenzyme Q10 is associated with a significant improvement in arterial endothelial function, supporting the myocardial energy needs, and reducing the amount of oxidized LDL. Consequently, it counteracts the damage caused by hypertension and the formation of atherosclerotic plaque. Vitamin B6 may be helpful in cardiovascular disease because it can control and reduce blood homocysteine levels, which, if elevated, can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
